We had hot drinks (fresh ginger, apple tea, and pomegranate tea) and dessert: kunefe. Everything was delicious and homemade, and the staff was kind and gentle—a place to visit again in a couple of days and try more of its food. The manager let us try Turkish tea, and it tasted great.

What an incredible evening! It’s like being at home with family, the staff are so friendly and welcoming! The food was incredible, I wish I could’ve eaten more! I would highly recommend that you stop in for a great meal and amazing atmosphere! Aaaand… the staff must be the best looking in the area, especially the chef!

This is my third year in a row coming back to Gülhane Şark Sofrası, and one of the main reasons is their tomato soup! It has become a little Istanbul tradition for me: arrive in the city, come here, and order my favourite soup.
But the food isn’t the only reason I keep returning. The staff are incredibly kind and welcoming, and they speak several languages, which makes communication easy. What I especially appreciate is seeing the same familiar faces year after year. It starts to feel like visiting old friends. If you come back, they might even recognise you and make your visit feel even more special.
Every time I visit, they treat me to complimentary baklava. It’s a small gesture, but those thoughtful touches stay with you and make you feel genuinely welcome.

Ein entsprechender Tisch wurde für uns arrangiert, sodass wir uns auch alle gut unterhalten konnten. Bei unseren Bestellungen wurden Fragen nach den Gerichten sehr freundlich und ausführlich beantwortet. Getränke und auch die Speisen wurden schnell serviert. Bei den gewählten Vorspeisen wurde sehr aufmerksam immer wieder Brot und auch Dip nachgereicht. Der Service war insgesamt sehr aufmerksam, nie aufdringlich und immer zuvorkommend. Nach dem obligatorischen Tee zum Abschluss erhielten wir noch eine Zugabe, eine Granatapfel-Tee, der der schmackhafteste Tee war, den wir bisher genossen haben. Das Imponierendste an diesem Besuch war tatsächlich der Service, den uns allen im Gedächtnis blieb und der mit 5 Sternen eigentlich unterbewertet ist. We dined there on the evening of September 12th with a party of five. Our first positive impression was that we weren't approached directly on the street; instead, after glancing at the menu outside, we decided to ask for a table ourselves. A suitable table was arranged for us, allowing us all to converse comfortably. When we ordered, our questions about the dishes were answered very politely and thoroughly. Drinks and food were served promptly. With our chosen appetizers, bread and dip were attentively replenished regularly. The service was consistently attentive, never intrusive, and always courteous. After the obligatory tea to finish, we were offered an extra treat: a pomegranate tea, which was the most delicious tea we've ever tasted. The most impressive aspect of our visit was undoubtedly the service, which truly stood out in our memories and deserves a 5-star rating. We highly recommend dining there!

Everything about this place was amazing. The food is great, they offered us bread that was absolutely perfect, and the service is super nice. Complimentary baklava and tea at the end, like in many other restaurants in Istanbul. But it was raining when we were about to leave, so they gave us MORE baklava and tea so we could wait a bit more until the rain stopped. I definitely recommend it!

We stopped by here for lunch and were so happy that we did!! The service was absolutely incredible - everyone was extremely friendly, kind and eager to help. There is a family of kittens that stay at the restaurant which were adorable! The food was also great and we got complementary pita, dips, tea and baklava. If we had more time in Istanbul, I definitely would have gone back. Highly recommend!
